The final four championship games have now been set from the 86 game UGDSB
Dufferin girls’ and boys’ basketball tournament. The finals are this Tuesday, May 5th at
Westside Secondary School.
The following teams will be competing:
Boys’ B Pool 6:00 p.m. - Spencer Avenue Stallions vs. East Garafraxa Raiders
Girls’ B Pool 6:50 p.m. - Grand Valley Gators vs. Princess Elizabeth Pandas
Girls’ A Pool 7:40 p.m. - Laurelwoods Lady Lightning vs. Island Lake Lakers
Boys’ A Pool 8:30 p.m. - Montgomery Village Vipers vs. Glenbrook Grizzlies
Congratulations to all teams in this year’s tournament and many thanks to the teachers
for all their time coaching! A special congratulations to those teams whose season has
just ended in making it to the semifinals, the second round of the playoffs:

Dufferin Public School Basketball Playoffs Begin UGDSB Dufferin Elementary Basketball Finals:

The local 60 game Round Robin schedule results have shown very close games in
seeding for this year’s Dufferin public school playoffs. The quarterfinals are the week of
April 13th–17th with the playoff format being single-elimination or “one & done”.
In the Girls’ A Pool, three teams are looking very strong. Laurelwood’s Lady Lightning
bring a perfect 4-0 record earning them the #1 seed and a bye to the semis. Close on
their heels are the #2 seeded Princess Margaret Mustangs and the #3 seed Montgomery
Village Vipers, these two teams also achieving prime 4-0 records. In Girls’ A Pool, the
quarterfinals pit PMPS Mustangs vs. Island Lake’s Lakers, MVPS Vipers vs. Mono-
Amaranth’s Eagles, and Spencer Avenue’s Lady Stallions vs. Princess Elizabeth’s
Pandas.
For Boys’ A Pool, two teams bring flawless 4-0 results, the #1 seed with a bye MVPS
Vipers and the #2 seeded Glenbrook ES Grizzlies with a highly competitive group of five
schools following closely behind, each with strong 3-1 records; Credit Meadows Cobras,
ILPS Lakers, MAPS Eagles, Primrose ES Pumas, and Parkinson Centennial’s Panthers.
The quarters feature the following matchups: GES Grizzlies vs. PCPS Panthers, CMES
Cobras vs. PES Pumas, and ILPS Lakers vs. MAPS Eagles.
In Girls’ B Pool action, the following teams face off: Hyland Heights’s Hawks vs. PCPS
Panthers, Grand Valley’s Gators vs. East Garafraxa’s Raiders, CMES Cobras vs. GES
Grizzlies, and Centennial Hylands’s Huskies vs. PEPS Pandas. Rounding out the
tournament will be the Boys’ B Pool with LES Lightning vs. PEPS Pandas, SAES
Stallions vs. HHES Hawks, CHES Huskies vs. GVPS Gators, and PMPS Mustangs vs.
EGPS Raiders.
Each of the four pools will have their “Final Four” playoff semifinals the week of April 20th
to 23rd and the championships will be held the evening of May 5th at Westside SS.
Annual Public Elementary Schools Basketball Tournament Begins!UGDSB Dufferin Elementary Basketball Finals:

Intermediate Girls’ and Boys’ basketball teams from the 15 Dufferin elementary
schools started their annual tournament last week. Overall, the schools are
divided into 3 divisions – North, East and West – with 5 schools in each division.
Each division will complete a 10-game Round Robin by April 10th – a total of 60
games with boys’ and girls’ teams combined. This Round Robin first round
provides the seeding for the two-pool single elimination round that follows. The
top two teams in each division will be seeded in the A Pool with further seeding
for A & B Pools based on wins and average Round Robin point differential. The
two pools have Quarter-Finals the week of April 13th, Semi-Finals the week of
April 20th and the four Final games the night of Tuesday, May 5th at Westside
Secondary School from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
